The Department of Development and Alumni Engagement seeks an experienced, highly organized, motivated person with positive attitude and excellent written and verbal communication skills, to serve as Administrative Assistant to the Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The individual will report to the Executive Director and be the first point of contact for the Executive Director’s office and responsible for all support functions of this position.  The Administrative Assistant will support departmental efforts in executing multi-million dollar fundraising campaigns and related alumni and development processes, budget tracking and reconciliation, composing and preparing correspondence, aiding in relationship building for UPEI, maintaining electronic and historic records, and supporting the overall management and success of the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grade 12 graduation plus completion of a recognized post-secondary program in business/office administration with related progressive experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Excellent knowledge of grammar and composition
• Excellent organizational abilities
• Initiative
• Discretion and accuracy
• Strong interpersonal skills are essential
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Work as part of a team
• Quickly acquire knowledge of UPEI and its operations
• Work some flexible hours to accommodate functions that are the nature of the department’s outreach work
• Fundraising and/or volunteer experience is an asset.  Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) or Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) designation is considered an asset
