Ocean Bridge – a five-month, part-time project-based personal development program that includes two, all expenses-paid, immersive land-based learning journeys in awe-inspiring regions of Canada: Pacific Coast, Great Lakes, St. Lawrence River, and Atlantic Coast. This program will run twice next year.

There is no cost to participate. In fact, both the Ocean Bridge and the Direct Action programs fund participant expenses while on learning journeys or during their placements. Financial support for things like internet access and childcare is also available on an as-needed basis.

There are 120 spots available for the Ocean Bridge program and 40 spots for the Direct Action program. Ocean Wise is proactively looking for a diverse group including youth from the North, inland communities, the prairies, and all social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.

The application process is low barrier. Youth can apply via 1-minute video, 750-word statement of interest, art portfolio, or whatever way they choose. 

There are different deadline dates, depending on the cohort: 

• Cohort 1 runs April 14- Sept 1, 2023 - deadline to apply is Feb. 26, 2023
• Cohort 2 runs Oct 2 - Feb 2023 - deadline to apply is May 28, 2023.
