A digital badge is a clickable image that displays information on what you had to do to earn the badge. You can think of it as a sort of digital certificate. You can use badges to help articulate your learning and achievement to employers.
To earn a badge, you have to participate in corresponding program workshops and complete the online activities under each topic in Moodle. These can be completed at any point in your degree!
You can download and share your badge across various online platforms. Visit the How to Share Your Digital Badges section in the Moodle pages and watch the tutorials on how to download and share your badge(s).
The digital badge programs organized by the Office of Experiential Education and Work Integrated Learning are free of charge.
The value of earning badges is that they can be displayed to employers to showcase your skills, competencies, and experiences. Badges are clickable icons that open to display metadata that helps people understand the work undertaken to earn it. You can show your badges on LinkedIn, your ePortfolio, and other online platforms, or use the metadata to help you articulate your achievements on your job applications.
After earning a badge, you can share your badge on LinkedIn, ePortfolio and other online platforms by exporting it through Badgr Backpack. Visit the How to Share Your Digital Badges section in the Moodle pages and watch the tutorials on how to download and share your badge(s).
To earn the badge, go to the accompanying Moodle where the badge is housed. The instructor for the workshop will have already enrolled you in the correct Moodle if you haven’t already self-enrolled. Find the workshop topic you completed and then complete the short accompanying activity. Once both attendance and activity completion is recorded, Moodle will automatically notify you that you have earned a badge.
There are sixteen workshops offered that have badges. The image on the digital badge webpage names each badge workshop.
