Pradeepa Gunasena (AHS-Kinesiology): Establishing the test-retest reliability of Contralateral Auditory Suppression of Transiently Evoked Otoacoustic Emmisions (CASTEOAE) in a cohort of normal individuals”.

Once again UPEI will host Let’s Listen, UPEI’s Mental Health Week Wrap-up event, and we are looking for up to six members of the UPEI community (students, faculty and staff) who would be willing to share their personal and/or supportive experience with mental health.

You would be asked to speak for approximately 5 minutes in a safe listening and non-judgemental environment for all to listen to your story, then engage in small group discussions with the support of professional staff as co-facilitators. You will have the full support of a representative from the UPEI Counselling Services to prepare and work with you throughout the presentation.

The Molecular and Macromolecular Sciences Seminar Program presents Dr. Tyson MacCormack, Mount Allison University, on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 12:30 pm in Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre, Room 212. The title of his talk is "Physical and physiological mechanisms of nanoparticle toxicity."

The elevator in SDU Main Building will be out of service for most of this week (February 12th - 16th). This closure is temporary and due to a valve failure. The elevator contractor has the part on order and will install it as soon as it arrives.

The deadline for Animal Care Protocol Submissions (new, renewal, or amendment) is Friday, March 2nd for the March meeting.

Ensure you download the current forms, use the most current Adobe Reader to complete forms (only current forms will be accepted).

Both the signed hard copy and electronic protocol submission must be submitted by the deadline date.

• Submit one copy of original protocol with signature to AVC - North Annex, Biomedical Sciences Dept., Rm 2302

• Submit an electronic copy to animalcare@upei.ca

Those protocols received after the deadline will be reviewed the following month. The Committee requires at least one month for processing applications.

Smith is widely acknowledged as a major feminist thinker of our time, and perhaps best known for her development of Institutional Ethnography, a theory/methodology of discovery aimed at providing a sociology for, not of, people. Smith’s lecture will focus on the interface between her development of a critical sociology aimed at exploring and explicating governance in contemporary society and its roots in feminism.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. UPEI will be offering it's next ASIST Workshop on Thursday/Friday March 8th & 9th.

This workshop has a limited capacity of 15, and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. All other interested contacts will be included for future ASIST sessions. Please email kjlawlor@upei.ca to request to join the workshop.

All are welcome to attend Mary MacPhee's PhD Defense presentation, "The Experience of Non-Francophone Parents with Children in Minority-language Schools in Prince Edward Island: A Mixed Method Study".

Then come back on Wednesday to mark the beginning of the season of Lent, distribution of ashes will take place at a 12:05 pm Mass and again at a 4:00 pm Mass.
