The Department of Companion Animals at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island, invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in anesthesiology. Appointment will be made at the Assistant or Associate professor level.

The successful applicant will join an established anesthesiology program with three faculty anesthesiologists and a team of experienced technicians (including one AVTAA certified technician). Job duties include teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs, providing small and large animal anesthesia service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, developing a research program, and contributing to extension and continuing education programs. 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A DVM (or equivalent) degree
  • Successfully completed an ACVAA or ECVAA residency program
  • Demonstrated teaching ability
  • Well-developed skills of collaboration, relationship building and communication
  • Eligibility for licensure with the Prince Edward Island Veterinary Medical Association

Preference will be given to candidates with diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA).  A graduate degree is desirable but not mandatory.

The salary range is commensurate with credentials and experience.  Full-time, permanent faculty members receive a comprehensive fringe benefit package, with benefit details provided at time of offer in accordance with the collective agreement.  This appointment is subject to budgetary approval.
