Description: One B.Ed. Scholarship (minimum $1,000) will be granted to a student in a Faculty of Education program. Preference will be given to an Indigenous Student with experience in teaching/working with Indigenous students (either paid or volunteer). If there are no qualifying students, the award will be granted to a student completing the Indigenous Focus (specialization).
Background: Rena C. (Reid) McAdam passed away in April 2017 and her husband Edward predeceased her in July, 2005. Rena was a graduate of the Prince Edward Island Hospital School of Nursing and served on the board of the Terrae Bay Hospital. Edward and Rena were residents of New Dominion, PE and spent many years in Terrace Bay, Ontario. Rena and Edward were devoted to companion animals, education and support to the QEH in Charlottetown. Rena was very generous in her Will, leaving a considerable gift to UPEI to establish scholarships for Education and Nursing students, and support to AVC for companion animals. As per her Will and in honour of Rena's gifts, these scholarships have been established.
