Criminal Investigations

The Security Services Division has the authority to conduct criminal investigations on campus. The Division cooperates with the City of Charlottetown Police in the following areas:

Highway Traffic Act
All motor vehicle accidents, occurring on campus, with the exception of those which result in injury or fatality, are the responsibility of the Security Services Division.

Liquor Control Act
All infractions under the Liquor Control Act will be the responsibility of the Security Services Division.

Criminal Code of Canada
The Security Services Division will have responsibility for investigating all matters outlined below, with the Charlottetown City Police lending assistance where possible and upon request.
 

  1. Minor break and enter where damage or theft is under $5000
  2. False pretenses under $5000
  3. Impaired Driving offences
  4. Damage to Property
  5. Theft under $5000
  6. Common Assault
  7. Mischief

The Charlottetown City Police are responsible and will act as lead in all other matters, including Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigations, with assistance from the Security Services Division.
