Clinton Joseph Davisson C.J. Davisson was born on October 22, 1881 in Bloomington Illinois. In 1908, Davisson received his
degree at the University of Chicago and in 1911 he received his Ph.D. from Princeton. In 1917 he received a job from Bell Telephone Labs which was where he performed his famous electron diffraction experiment in 1927.
In 1939 he received a Nobel prize for his experiments on the wave properties of matter. He retired from Bell Labs in 1946 and died on February 1, 1958. For more information on the life of C.J. Davisson visit:
