Two Steps:

Conversion of timing responses in Sonar's MIDI code to ASCII (using van Oostrum's MF2T).
Conversion of ASCII data into milliseconds using an Excel spreadsheet.

Step 1:

An example of the MIDI data (responses) just after collection in "Sonar". Here is the same screen shot with a few explanatory captions. Click here for another screenshot which shows Sonar being used to manage the responses of multiple trials.

* MF2T was created by Piet van Oostrum. This MS-DOS program will take any midi file and convert it to a text file listing all the events and details in that file (link to the program, link to its documentation in MS-Word format)

Step 2:

* These results are then brought into an MS-Excel spreadsheet which calculates the time difference between the appearance of an embedded X and the subjects response. These are all converted from tics to milliseconds.
