

Psychomusicology is a journal of research in music cognition and aims to report important new scientific work in the area of music, mind, and brain. Psychomusicology invites authors to submit full-length manuscripts of reports of experimental research, integrative and evaluative reviews of research, and theoretical papers that are based on experimental research. The Journal also welcomes Research Notes: brief reports of research in progress, replications, commentaries on trends in Psychomusicology, and brief notes on research methodology and instrumentation.
SUBMISSION. Authors submitting manuscripts for review must send them via email (preferred) to acohen@upei.ca, or by regular mail (CD or a hard copy) to Dr. Annabel J. Cohen, Editor, Psychomusicology, Department of Psychology, 550 University Avenue, Charlottetown, PE CANADA C1A 4P3 (tel. 902-628-4325, fax 902-628-4359). Blind review is optional. If the author wishes anonymity, neither the author’s name nor other identifying information should appear on the abstract of the manuscript or elsewhere in the manuscript. However, the title, author’s name(s), affiliation, correspondence address, and email address should be placed on the title page located before the abstract. Manuscripts are sent for review to at least two reviewers which may include members of the consulting board or editorial board. Authors will be notified of the status of their manuscripts after the review process is completed (no longer than eight weeks).
FORMAT. Manuscripts should conform to the conventions specified in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (Fifth Edition). A reasonable article length is 20 pages (5000 words); Research Notes should not exceed 8 pages (2000 words). Figures or tables should be publication-quality originals, and typically high quality computer-generated figures. Two to four tables and/or figures is a reasonable number. Either Windows or Macintosh format is acceptable. Contact the Editor if more information is needed.
PROOFS. The Editor reserves the right to edit all articles accepted for publication, however, no such edited material will be published without the author’s approval. Galley proofs will be sent to authors for correction and minor changes only.
COPYRIGHT. Manuscripts are accepted for review with the understanding that the same work has not been and will not be published nor is presently submitted elsewhere. All copyrights to a manuscript accepted for publication, including the right to reproduce the article in all forms and media, shall be assigned exclusively to the journal, Psychomusicology. Reasonable requests will be accepted from the author for permission to reproduce any contributions to the journal. Authors are responsible for obtaining their own copyright clearance on illustrations, figures, or lengthy quotes used in their manuscripts.
