Note: Population figures are somewhat unreliable before 1986, and in some cases before 1991. Some communities have not had a population count since 1981 or even earlier - thus, population figures for some communities must be considered seriously out of date. Where spaces are left blank, there are no reliable population counts for that community in that year. Where figures are unchanged from year to year, it is likely that no count has been taken since the figure first appeared (see, for instance, the unchanging population of Brudenell). Population figures for Charlottetown, Cornwall, Summerside and Stratford between 1976 and 1986 are estimated from adding the populations of:
