On
the night of April 6-7, 2000, countless thousands of people around the
world were treated to an incredible display of Aurora borealis or "Northern
Lights". What made this display especially interesting was that it manifested
itself predominantly as a red
aurora, which are rare.
This was my first attempt at photographing the aurora. Here are some of the images I captured on that evening.

Tony Phillips, the Editor of Nasa's Spaceweather
page documented this event in the article "Brushfires
in the Sky". The three images above were included in the Gallery
of Images in that article.

of the images below were also taken during this display.
All images were taken with my AT-1 Canon, using a 28mm lens at f2.8 and Kodak 200 ASA Film. Exposures ranged from 20-60 seconds.
