Restaurants/Pubs and more... 

Cedar's 81 University Ave. (10 min. walk from Delta) Recommended by many as THE place for Lebanese food (vegetarian selections, "Canadian" food also). Smoking & Non-smoking Reasonable prices. Friday evenings very busy so call ahead and reserve. Mostly booths for 4, a few tables seat more. Interesting tiny bar upstairs "Baba's Lounge". 892-7377 

Dundee Arms 200 Pownal Str. (10 min. walk from Delta) Fine dining in historic inn-Griffon Room (make reservations). Also a small pub with a large deck and a reasonably priced menu of crepes, seafood and lighter fare. Good desserts. 892-2496 

Jakes Kitchen & Bar on the Wharf 1 Pownal Street (a few minutes walk from the Delta at the foot of Pownal upstairs in the Yacht Club building). Above average pub fare. Deck, as well as lots of room inside. Open daily at 11am. 892-8098 

Joseph's Not in the downtown but a short drive (5-10 min) from Delta. At St. Peter's & Mount Edward Roads. Can accommodate larger groups but best to reserve on a Friday evening. Smoking/non-smoking sections. Good service. Entrees $15-25. 628-6600 

Lucy Maud Dining Room 4 Sydney Str. (approx. 10 min walk from the Delta) Fine dining with lovely harbour view. Culinary Institute of Canada students prepare and serve meals. Make reservations and call to confirm opening hours. 894-6868 

Merchant Man Pub Across from Delta at the corner of Water & Queen. Popular pub and restaurant with some interesting menu selections- "attempts" at Thai and Cajun. Pub fare $6-11. Entrees $11-25. Imported and local draught on tap. Outdoor deck option in summer. Reserve back room for large group. 892-9150 

Shaddy's 44 University Ave. (approx. 10 min walk from Delta) Specializes in Lebanese but extensive menu. Try the shish taouk sandwich or dinner. 368-8886 

Off Broadway Restaurant 125 Sydney Str. A few blocks from the Delta up Queen, turn right on Sydney. Lunch and supper. In the "fine" dining category with some interesting selections. Reservations recommended. 566-4620. Upstairs, small "42nd Street Lounge"- great place for a "quiet" drink. 

Olde Dublin Pub 131 Sydney Str. (2 blocks from Delta , up Queen, turn right unto Sydney). Dining in the Claddagh Room on main floor. Lively pub with deck on top floor with reasonably priced menu. Wide selection of draught on tap. Can usually accommodate groups but best to reserve for a Friday evening. Live music most nights. 892-6992 

Peake's Quay Foot of Great George Street (very close to Delta). Restaurant/bar - view of harbour, live music some nights, food so-so. Nice place for a drink. Can usually accommodate groups. 368-1330 

A Piece of Cake 119 Grafton, 2nd floor (5 min. walk from Delta) More in the "fine" dining category yet some reasonably priced items. Great desserts and speciality coffees. Non-smoking. Can accommodate larger groups but call ahead. Open 11am for lunch. 894-4585 

Sirenella Ristorante Across from Delta on 83 Water Str. Fine Italian dining-great service and food. Reserve for evenings especially for larger group. Non-smoking. Entrees in the $16-21 range. Pastas $10-17. 628-2271 

The Water Prince Corner Shop & Restaurant Within 2 blocks of Delta. Great casual spot for darn good seafood - small but several tables for 4. Will pack seafood for travel. 368-3212

Out of Downtown

Farmer's Market Saturdays only: 9-2 - local produce, crafts, coffee, juice bar, hot food. Across from UPEI on Belvedere Ave. 

Fisherman's Wharf Lobster Suppers Route 6, North Rustico. Open noon to 9m daily. (buffet "only" or steak, ham or scallops alternatives to lobster) Seats up to 500. 963-2669 25-30 min. drive from Ch'town. 

Café on the Clyde and Prince Edward Island Preserve Company Junction of rtes. 224 & 258. Great gifts and jam sampling! Restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lovely view and atmosphere. Call to confirm opening times. 964-4300 A 25-30 min. drive from Ch'town. 
 
 

Recreation/Entertainment and more

Delta has its own cardio and weights room, pool, hot tub. Best Western has a fitness centre and pool on-site. 

UPEI - Canada Games Field House Full gym, running/walking track, etc. $5.00 daily fee. 

Confederation Trail Those staying at UPEI are within steps of a stretch of the trail; gravel base. Biking allowed so keep your head up! 

Confederation Landing/Boardwalk/ Victoria Park For a pleasant stroll go around the Delta to foot of Great George Str. to find the Confederation Landing park and Peakes Quay. A longer walk or run could include following the waterfront towards Victoria Park, (some of this takes you through residential streets Water, Haviland, and West) The section of the boardwalk in Victoria Park itself, is a flat 1.5 km (1-way) walk by the water. Parking available at either end of the park if you want to "do" only that section. 

Pool Doolys 157 Kent Str. or closer to UPEI, another Doolys location at 449 University Ave. 

City Cinema Our independent film-house. Easy walking within minutes from the Delta at 64 King Str. 368-3669 or see listings in a copy of the latest Buzz, a free entertainment monthly. 2 different films most nights at approx. 7 and 9. Regular admission $7.00
