DEPARTMENT of  BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES

POST-GRADUATE PROGRAMS

In addition to the department's contribution to undergraduate professional education, we also provide a substantial contribution to the University's graduate program. Members of the department were instrumental in the development of the graduate progam and continue to view graduate student education as a major component of the teaching and research functions of the department. The department offers M.Sc. and Ph.D (beginning January 1996) degrees specializing in each of the five major operational areas although in practice these programs are often multi-disciplinary in nature.

The department's current complement of graduate students includes 10 full-time; all of whom are studying toward Master of Science degrees. In addition,  faculty members are supervising three doctoral students.  Department faculty also serve on supervisory committees for a number of graduate students both at UPEI and at other institutions.

In support of the graduate program the Department of Biomedical Sciences currently offers twenty-two graduate courses according to demand in any given academic year.
