Topic: Central Auditory Processing Disorders

This presentation will focus on identification, assessment and aspects of remediation in central auditory processing (CAP) disorders. The population discussed primarily will be children. The presentation will begin with a theoretical model of CAP and move on to controversies around CAP, typical profile of child with a CAP disorder, the referral process for an audiological assessment, the central audiologic test battery, remediation, and an introduction to "Fast For Word."

Speaker: Pat Ellis

Pat Ellis is an audiologist employed with the province of PEI servicing the health regions. Pat completed her graduate studies at Dalhousie in the field of human communication disorders and specialized in audiology. Pat has developed a special interest in central auditory processing disorders having worked and studied under Dr. Christine Sloane and Dr. Robert Kieth who are pioneers in the field.
