More about IAS
On May 19, 1995, a diverse group of about 20 individuals gathered at UPEI to discuss mutual interests in the science of sound, Since that time, they have organized 10 public programs devoted to various aspects of acoustics. Topics have included Underwater Acoustics, Ultrasound, Hearing in Cetaceans, Effects of Noise on hearing, Radio Broadcasting, Sound Localization, Musical Acoustics (Voice, Horns, Bagpipes), Computer Music, Audio Speakers, Acoustics of Musical Instruments, and Tracking Vibration, Stress and Torsion of the Confederation Bridge. These programs have featured local or visiting experts on each of the various topics. Programs planned for 1997-98 focus on Musical Acoustics (String And Percussion), Sound recording for film and video production, New technologies in hearing aids, and Physical acoustics.
