Exceptional Opportunities for Student Research

Small class sizes and supportive, collegial relationships with professors and classmates provide UPEI students with exceptional opportunities to carry out important, real-life research at the undergraduate and graduate levels. This web site has been created to highlight the variety and quality of our student research work.

In the summer of 2008 we celebrated the largest number of undergraduate research awards that UPEI has ever received from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) — 26 in total. NSERC is the main government funding agency for basic science and engineering research. It supports students and faculty through a competitive process that rewards the brightest and the best researchers in Canada.

We are proud to introduce our 2008 NSERC undergraduate award-winners’ research. Please click on the names to the left to learn about our students' research and their summer experience. Over the coming months we will expand this site to highlight many more exciting student research projects at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
