Description:awarded to a returning student who has completed Political Studies 211, 401 or Business Law 301 and is currently enrolled in or has completed Political Studies 212, 402 or Business Law 302. Primary residence was PEI in their high school grad year and scholastic achievement in the previous academic year.
Background:The Law Society is an independent, self-governing profession. The Society's main task is to regulate the practice of law within the province. The Law Society is governed by legislation passed by the PEI Legislature in 1992 called the Legal Profession Act. The Act outlines the Society's objectives as: to uphold and protect the public interest in the administration of justice, to establish standards for the education, professional responsibility, and competence of members and applicant s for membership, to ensure the independence, integrity and honour of the society and its members, to regulate the practice of law, and to uphold and protect the interests of members The PEI Law Society/Law Foundation created this award to support and encourage students who study law
