All are welcome to attend the first meeting of the PEI History of Medicine Society: Main Building Faculty Lounge, June 6 at 7 pm.
We have two speakers for the evening: Dr. James Moran (UPEI History department) will speak on "The Scourge of the St. Lawrence: St. Paul's Bay Disease in Colonial Quebec," and Dr. Jock Murray (Dalhousie Medical School) will speak on "Illness in National Leaders: Experience on the White House Committee on Incapacity in US Presidents." Along with the two talks, we’ll discuss plans for the Society next year. This will be a chance for health professionals, historians, and community members who have an interest in the broad area of the history of medicine to hear about each other's projects. For more information, please contact Shannon Murray (566-0404, smurray@upei.ca) or Lamont Sweet (368-4996).

Over the past several months, the search committee for the Vice-President Administration and Finance has received and considered expressions of interest and supporting documents from potential candidates for Vice-President Administration and Finance. Four outstanding candidates were shortlisted, two proceeded to the interview process, and interviews have been held. As a result, one candidate has been selected to deliver a public presentation to the UPEI community.
The committee is pleased to announce that Stephen Willetts will present to campus in the Alex H. MacKinnon Auditorium (242), Don and Marion McDougall Hall, on Monday, June 4, 10:30–11:30 am.
The campus community is invited and encouraged to participate. However, the presentation will be videotaped and, for those unable to attend, will be available online.

The amazing Joy Ikede -- friend, colleague, and "mama" to countless
international students over the years -- has decided to retire. We know
there are lots of people who would like to say goodbye to Joy, so Student
Services will be hosting a casual drop-in on May 31, from 2:00-4:00 pm.
Please come by and let her know how much she will be missed, sign a memory
book, and have some light refreshments. Looking forward to seeing lots of
folks there.
If you are unable to attend on Thursday, there is now a book at the front
desk of Student Services where anyone can come and write a message to Joy.
Alternatively, send an email message ro rfreeman@upei.ca, and we would be
more than happy to cut and paste it into the book. Thank you.
