Subject to the approval of a full project plan and budget, UPEI’s Finance and Audit Committee of the Board, and the Board of Governors support the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Committee’s recommendation to replace the University’s administrative software system.
In response to University requirements, and in light of ever-increasing advances in information technology, UPEI recently conducted a review of its core computing systems. UPEI’s student, financial, and human resource processes and information systems were assessed, with input provided by programmers, end-users, and administrators.
As a result of the information collected, including recognition of the growing number and complexity of in-house applications on campus, the ERP Committee determined that a major overhaul is necessary. A recommendation to seek a vendor-supplied system to replace the University Information System (UIS) was provided by the ERP Committee to the Finance and Audit Committee and the UPEI Board of Governors on March 28.
Upon approval by the Board of a full project plan and budget, a request for proposal (RFP) will be issued. The University anticipates that a vendor will be chosen by late autumn 2011, at which point implementation planning and staff training and support will begin.
It is expected that transition to a new system will take at least two years following the selection of a solution.
