Dr. Townsend is visiting the University of Prince Edward Island as part of the PhD examination committee for Dr. Julia (Krause) Montgomery.
Dr. Townsend was a founding member and first president of Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and the WCVM Equine Health Research Fund. He has worked in large animal medicine in New Zealand, Western Australia, Saskatchewan, and as a research scientist. He is program director of Bacterial Vaccine Development, Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VID0/Intervac). Dr. Townsend edits Horse Health Lines, is on the Executive Committee of the Master of Public Health Program, U of S, and is Chair of the PhD Program in Epidemiology, School of Public Health, U of S. His research interests include - Infectious Respiratory Disease of Horses, WNV, Infectious Disease Epidemiology, and
Vaccine Efficacy.
