Faculty Profile of the Month - May 2016

Professor Chris Vessey was awarded a Hessian Merit Award for Excellence in Teaching by a sessional instructor by the UPEI Faculty Association on May 4, 2016. Chris has been teaching at UPEI since the fall of 2000 and is usually the first computer science professor that students encounter.

Both students and colleagues have commented that "Chris is willing to go above and beyond to enhance the student experience at UPEI." One of his student nominators wrote, "Chris has a natural compassion for student learning and achievement. As a student I can attest to his nurturing of us as budding computer scientists, always making time for us in or outside of the classroom," Another student wrote "Professor Vessey is outstanding in every definition of the word. His dedication to his profession and students stands the highest of any teacher I have ever met. He encourages you to figure things out for yourself but is always there to offer guidance and advice if you are struggling. Chris Vessey is undoubtedly the greatest professor I have had the honour of learning from." High words of praise from a student.

The Faculty of Science is grateful for all of the work that Professor Vessey does and congratulates him on this well deserved award. Well done, Chris!
