Description: Awarded to a full-time PEI student in good academic standing, who demonstrates involvement in university or community service work or other activities of a charitable nature which assist others in the learning or developmental process(coaching, teaching, music, Student Union etc).
Background: This bursary was established at the University of Prince Edward Island in 1990 by the Kiwanis Club of Charlottetown. The bursary is named after long-time and respected member of the Kiwanis Club of Charlottetown, Eugene Richard, better known as "Toots". The Kiwanis' purpose is to improve the quality of life worldwide. The Kiwanis Club of Charlottetown may wish to invite the bursary recipient to a meeting to address the Club and/or have a photo taken by the Guardian newspaper. This is in keeping with the Kiwanis policy of ensuring that the public is made aware of how monies raised for charitable purposes are spent.
