Description: Awarded to a full-time Nursing student entering second year. Must have an excellent academic record, proven integrity, admirable work and study habits, and leadership potential.
Background: The Francis A. Croken and Elizabeth E. (McNally) Croken Nursing Scholarship was established through the Estate of Robert J. Croken of Wilbraham, Massachusetts. Robert was the son of Francis and Elizabeth and planned for this tribute to his parents in his Will. This endowed award honors Francis A. Croken and Elizabeth E. (McNally) Croken, both industrious, family-oriented individuals, whose lives were dedicated to learning and helping others. Both had a profound understanding of their heritage and retained a special relationship to their birthplace, Prince Edward Island. Francis A. Croken Freetown 1987-1950 and Elizabeth E. (McNally) Croken Abram's Village 1877-1954. It is the understanding of the University of Prince Edward Island, that Robert J. Croken never had the opportunity to visit Prince Edward Island in his lifetime. Robert J. Croken died January 26, 2004
