Residence Computer Policy Sanctions

As a ResNet user, you are expected to adhere to the policies as outline in the UPEI Computer Services: Computing Policies (upei.ca/residence/rhb/computingpolicies) . Residence Services and/or Computer Services reserves the right to evaluate a student’s connection based on his or her computer usage within the residence community.

This will also take into account a residence student using a lab or off-campus computer to communicate with a residence student using the residence network. It does not take into consideration the actions of residence students outside the residence community communicating with residence students who are also outside the residence community. However, depending on the student’s location (i.e., computer lab), he or she may be subject to the UPEI Computer User policy.

This evaluation could lead to the following;

  • First violation will lead to a disconnection for seven days without financial credit
  • Second violation will lead to a disconnection for the semester without financial credit
  • Third violation will lead to a disconnection for the remainder of the academic year without financial credit

A student who violates any of the above policies will be notified in writing regarding the sanction. This letter will also outline an appeal process the student can follow should he or she wish to appeal.
