UPEI Residence Handbook

It is our privilege to welcome you to UPEI and to the Residence Community at UPEI. Residence Life at UPEI is continually improving, and 2010-11 promises to be no exception.

We have improved facilities, committed Residence Life Advisors (RLAs), and what we’re sure will be the best crop of residence students that we’ve ever seen! Allow us to tell you briefly what residence life is all about.

Life in residence at the University of Prince Edward Island is designed to enhance your overall university experience. Our goal is to provide an active living and learning environment, focusing on academic support and unique educational experiences not available inside the classroom.

The residence staff go far beyond simply offering inexpensive and convenient housing. It is our hope that you will come to view your residence as more than just a place to sleep, but as a community.

Above and beyond providing convenient living arrangements, residence life is beneficial to your overall personal growth.

When you leave UPEI, you will do so not only with a university degree, but also with the experience and confidence needed to work productively with others. Residence life allows you to make the most of your degree!

Now that you know the broad picture of residence life, keep reading to learn the specifics. If you take the time to read through this Handbook, you’ll find that it answers many questions you may have about residence life.

You can refer to this Handbook at any time- you’ll find that it’s a great reference throughout the year.

Again, let us extend a warm welcome! We look forward to welcoming you in September! Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or problems throughout the year.
