SSHRC Joint Initiative with the European Commission's Horizon 2020 Migration Call

Horizon 2020 is the European Commission's (EC) largest research funding platform to date. In October 2017, the EC released the final work program for the platform for 2018-2020, comprised of calls for research worth €30 billion.

SSHRC invites interested Canadian researchers to involve themselves with research groups from European Union member states working on the theme of Migration within Horizon 2020 Societal Challenge 6: Europe in a changing world – Inclusive, innovative and reflective societies.  The eight subthemes in this call are outlined below.

For detailed information about participating on an EU research team, see the European Commission's Research & Innovation Participant Portal.

To support Canadian international collaboration in this area of research, SSHRC in conjunction with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will make 1- to 3- year awards valued between $75,000 to $200,000 available to researchers affiliated with an eligible Canadian institution on Horizon 2020 research teams selected for funding  by the European Commission.  Researchers based in Québec may receive an additional support of $50,000 from the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Société et culture.
