Bioscience Technology program at Holland College looking for On the Job Training sponsors

The Bioscience Technology program at Holland College is looking for OJT-sponsoring companies for six weeks this year, specifically from Monday April 30 to Friday June 8, 2017.  Our students are currently completing their research projects in fields ranging from natural products extraction, to fermentation, to gas chromatography, to cell culture and pcR.  Several of our graduates will be moving on to UPEI in the fall to complete the Bachelor of Science degrees in Biotechnology.

We are holding OJT interviews in April.  If you could use a laboratory assistant for this timeframe, please submit a request with the following information to myself or to Dr. Jennifer Slemmer (jeslemmer@hollandcollege.com)  by this Friday, March 16:

  • short description of the work to be completed
  • location/address of position
  • hours of work per day
  • name(s) of supervisor(s)

Supervisors of students will be asked to complete an evaluation of the student at the end of the OJT term.  Holland College students are expected to comply with the expectations and written procedures of the workspace they are hired into.

Once received, positions will be distributed to the 2nd year students, and companies will receive names and resumes of all interested students by early April, 2018. Companies will also receive a detailed schedule of "Interview Day" at that time. As in previous years, all interview slots will be 20 minutes (per student), and will be held in the CAST building (3rd floor, rooms 318/319/321).

Please contact me by email if you have any questions about OJT positions, and please forward this email to any of your colleagues who may be interested in hosting an OJT student this year.

Thank you for your support,
Marla MacKenzie
