UPEI is a growing centre of research excellence in Atlantic Canada. Ranked the number one university in Canada for research income growth by Re$earch Infosource, UPEI manages more than $17 million in annual research expenditures, and is home to ten research chairs, including the prestigious Canada Excellence Research Chair in Aquatic Epidemiology.
UPEI’s Strategic Research Plan identifies eleven areas of research expertise, divided into three main categories or constellations: Environment, Health, and Community and Culture.
The number of graduate students at UPEI has grown in the past decade by more than 220 per cent, with several new programs offered across six academic faculties and schools.
