This course provides students with an overview of core research, practice, and policy areas falling within the realm of Forensic Psychology. As this is an introductory course to this area, students will be provided with readings and lectures on a breadth of topics within Forensic Psychology (e.g., history of forensic psychology, ethical issues in forensic practice, risk assessment, criminal profiling, criminal responsibility/competency, eyewitness memory, jury decision-making, credibility assessment, investigative interviewing, psychopathy, and correctional psychology). The goal of this course is to introduce students to the area of Forensic Psychology and to provide an understanding of the application of psychological research and practice to the legal system.

 

Prerequisites: Psychology 101-102 and 278-279 or 251
