The H.M. Chiang Award |
Award presented to a graduating student in Psychology who reflects the personal and intellectual qualities, values, and interests embodied by Min Chiang during his career at UPEI. Included in these are:
i) A commitment to excellence; ii) An interest in humanistic, person-centered and personal psychology; iii) Creativity, reflected through breadth of intellectual interests, integrative conceptual work, and/or innovative solutions to broadly defined academic problems; iv) Personal qualities they bring to their work – personal involvement, maturity, and personal and intellectual honesty.
Awarded at the Psychology Graduation Luncheon and the UPEI Graduate Awards ceremony in May.

Nomination to be made by a faculty member in the Department of Psychology, and must include: i) A letter of nomination, outlining why the student is a deserving recipient with reference to the award criteria. ii) An academic transcript.
Nominations are to be submitted to the Awards and Scholarship Committee of the Department of Psychology by March 15.
Nominations will be placed in the Department of Psychology for review by faculty, who then forward their recommendation to the Department of Psychology Awards and Scholarship Committee by March 31.
The Awards and Scholarship Committee then makes a recommendation to the Department at its April meeting.

The Psychological Association of PEI Award |
Presented to the outstanding graduating Psychology major chosen by the Department of Psychology. This award considers not only academic success, but also contribution to the Department.
Awarded at the Psychology Graduation Luncheon and the UPEI Graduate Awards ceremony in May.

The Dr Julian Jaynes Memorial Graduate Award in Psychology |
Presented on an annual basis to a UPEI graduate who has been accepted as a candidate for graduate studies in Psychology.
Awarded on basis of: a) Graduate of UPEI Psychology program; b) Accepted into graduate program in Psychology, with evidence of acceptance provided.
Awarded at the Dean’s Honours and Awards Night in October.

CPA Programme of Certificate of Academic Excellence |
Presented to the student with the best undergraduate thesis in each Canadian Psychology Department for the each academic year.
Department Criteria (2007): 1) Grade exceeding 85; 2) Independence of research project; 3) Quality of research carried out; 4) Thoroughness of analysis; 5) Quality of writing and independence of writing; 6) Comprehensive grasp of the literature; and 7) Ability to articulate findings in some dissemination piece, including thesis defence.

Three (3) award annually.
The list of recipients will be published in the Fall issue of Psynopsis and on the CPA website.

Nomination to be made by a faculty member in the Department of Psychology, and must include: i) A letter of nomination, outlining why the student is a deserving recipient with reference to the award criteria. ii) Final copy of Honours thesis document.
To be considered, the thesis must be: i) Successfully defended; ii) Grade for the thesis (Psychology 490) submitted to the Office of the Registrar.
Nominations are to be submitted to the Awards and Scholarship Committee of the Department of Psychology by May 15.
Nominations will be placed in the Department of Psychology for review by faculty, who then forward their recommendation to the Department of Psychology Awards and Scholarship Committee by May 31.
The Awards and Scholarship Committee then makes a recommendation to the Chair, who forwards the nomination to CPA. |
