The Administrative Professional's Development Program is designed for those who have been working in the administrative professional field and have found gaps in their skills, need to update their skills as a result of a change in their job or simply want to enhance their knowledge and skills.

The program will allow participants the opportunity to update their skills and expand their professional relationships. Workshops in the following areas will be delivered:

  • Time Management and Organizational Skills
  • Workplace Writing
  • Managing Conflict in the Workplace

Introduction to Financial Management

Those working in new or expanded financial roles, whether it is in the non-profit or public sector, or private industry, take on many different responsibilities within the area of finance. Introduction to Financial Management helps lay the foundation for understanding financial literacy, fundamental financial accounting theory and concepts, analyzing performance results, and identifying signs of financial problems. Those completing this course can expect to leave with a greater understanding of how to read and interpret financial statements through an interactive learning environment covering financial accounting theory and actual case studies.

Good, consistent project management practices have been directly linked to improving project performance, such as on-time and on-budget completion, and providing deliverables to customer needs and satisfaction.

This one-day fundamental course introduces the concepts of project management and provides some essential tools to start the process of managing projects effectively in your organization. It also identifies the differences between projects and operational work, and helps you define the additional skills required to manage work and people in a project environment.

Time Management and Organizational Skills

Participants will learn to prioritize to-do list, limit interruptions, delegate tasks more effectively, and become more aware of activities that waste time. The facilitator will review the basics of organizational skills including attention to detail, decision making, problem solving, and multi-tasking.

Essentials of Workplace Writing covers techniques that help you write efficiently, craft clear and persuasive messages, and avoid common mistakes that can diminish the professionalism and effectiveness of your work.

Managing Conflict in the Workplace

This course will focus primarily on conflict from an interpersonal perspective: why conflict occurs, and what can be done to prevent and/or resolve it. Participants will develop a better understanding of the multi-layered nature of conflict, the five core concerns that lie at the heart of many emotional challenges, and the ten roles each of us can play to prevent and resolve it.
