Dr. Stanish is Professor of Surgery at Dalhousie University and is founder and Director of the Orthopaedic and Sport Medicine Clinic of Nova Scotia. He is a former PWC football, hockey and basketball player. While pursuing his MD at Dalhousie University, he captained the varsity football and hockey teams and was twice awarded Male Athlete of the Year. He was Chief Medical Officer for the Canadian Olympic Team in the 1984 and 1988 Olympic games. An esteemed member of the research community, Dr. Stanish has authored multiple book chapters, articles and textbooks. He is a member of the NS Sports Hall of Fame, Dalhousie University Sport Hall of Fame, and UPEI Sport Hall of Fame. He holds an Honorary Doctor of Laws from St. Francis Xavier University and has been inducted into the Order of Nova Scotia.
