In response to constituents’ feedback, the CCAC has modified the format of its web-based seminars and is now offering pre-recorded webinars. These training resources which aim to educate, train, and communicate with ACC members, scientists and other CCAC constituents can now be accessed at no cost and at your own convenience.

UPEI’s Family and Nutritional Sciences (FANS) Society is committed to building a strong community, and this year was no different. The student group, which includes foods & nutrition, family science, child studies, and kinesiology students, was recently involved in a number of fundraising and awareness initiatives, which raised over $3,800.
Regrettably, due to inclement weather, the following presentations scheduled for today will be rescheduled:
- The presentation of the National Film Board Education Team on how to use CAMPUS: NFB.ca in an educational setting will be rescheduled for a later date.
- Shelly Pepler's presentation on Teaching Opportunities in Nunavut will be held Thursday, February 2nd, at 6:00pm in Memorial 417.

The Centre for Veterinary Epidemiological Research (CVER) Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, is pleased to host Epi on the Island 2012.
Preliminary details regarding the upcoming Epi on the Island Conference, hosted annually at AVC at UPEI, are as follows:
Module 1, "Network Analysis", will be a 3-day course, June 20 - 22, 2012. Instructors: Caroline Dube and Caryl Lockart (with local support from Javier Sanchez).
Module 2, "Latent Class Analysis", will be a 4 day course, June 25 - 28, 2012. Instructor: Nils Toft (with local support from Henrik Stryhn & Ian Gardner).
Course fees and further details to be announced on this website in the coming month.

UPEI will be celebrating its eleventh annual International Development Week (IDW), February 6-12, with all events open to the public. The 2012 theme will be “Building Democracies: Instilling Civil Societies and Developing Democratic Processes.” IDW is a national event held each year to increase awareness of Canada’s role in international development. The events also serve to educate the general public on life in developing countries.
All Education students are invited to attend a SMART Board Workshop at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 3 in the Education Learning Commons (Memorial 301). Instruction will be available on both SMART Board basics and more advanced activities. This 90-minute session will be tailored to meet the needs of participants!
Please sign up at the Circulation Desk in the ELC or email elc@upei.ca by 4:00 pm on Thursday, February 2. A minimum of four students must be signed up for the workshop to go ahead as scheduled. Laptops with SMART Notebook installed will be helpful, but are not essential.

With funding from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) Aboriginal Youth Internship Program, the Institute of Island Studies at UPEI is sending two interns to Chiloe Island, Chile, in February. Olivia Levi of Miramichi, NB, and Samantha Lewis of Lennox Island First Nation, PEI will spend the next four months working with aboriginal communities in Chile.

Mark the date! Dr. Margaret Slater, Senior Director of Veterinary Epidemiology, ASPCA, will give lunchtime and evening talks at AVC on Tuesday, March 20, in lecture theatre A (sponsored by the SJDAWC, the Animal Welfare Club, CVER, and the PEIHS)
The CVER group is please to welcome Dr. Slater for our weekly coffee social on Tuesday, March 20th, and she will follow that with a presentation titled "Doing research in the real world on cat socialization, people and shelters: some methodological issues" (AVC 343N). All welcome.

The UPEI Business Society are hosting “UPEI Panthers Mean Business,” a pre-game reception for all business students, staff and faculty before the UPEI men’s hockey game on January 27, at 5:30 pm at The Wave.
The reception will provide an opportunity to mingle and network before heading over to the MacLauchlan Arena to cheer on the Panthers. Prizes will also be up for grabs, including Empire Theatre movie passes, Adidas hoodies, UPEI apparel, and a 42” Toshiba 120hz LED HD TV.
Both the UPEI basketball and hockey teams will be hosting “alumni nights” on January 28, 2012. The events will welcome former Panthers and recognize athletes, coaches, and others who have added to the history of sport at UPEI.
