Université de Moncton
The Université de Moncton is the largest French-language university in Canada outside of Québec. Founded in 1963, the University offers a comprehensive post-secondary education to almost 5,000 students from the Atlantic region as well as from parts of Québec, Ontario and the Western provinces. The Acadian culture thrives on campus through contributions from the academic, cultural and sporting groups that form the university community. The Centre de recherche en linguistique appliquée, which is hosting the conference, has an active research programme that addresses linguistic and pedagogical issues facing speakers of Acadian French. City of Moncton
Moncton is know as the “hub city of the Maritime Provinces” and has a population of over 120,000.  Moncton is Canada’s first officially bilingual city; about 60 per cent of residents are native speakers of English and 40 per cent are francophone. The city is located in the southeastern corner of the Province of New Brunswick and is close to some of Canada’s oldest English Loyalist and Acadian French settlements. A popular destination in the summer months, Moncton is about a 20-minute drive from Canada’s warmest saltwater beaches on the Northumberland Strait and about 1.5 hours from Prince Edward Island.
