2007–2008 Year in Review
MAPUS Events
• A "Welcome Back Meet and Greet" was held early in September which brought lots of friends new and old together.
• We were able to ounce again provide our members with Student Handbooks. These prove to be a valuable organizational tool
for students.
• One of our members, Afton Thacker, graciously stepped up in November to take on the Student Union Representative's
position as it had been vacant since May.
• MAPUS helped to divert, at least for now, a campus parking issue that would have seen the removal of three
handicap parking spots from behind Main Building.
• We were able to have a router installed in our office alowing our members a wireless connection without leaving the
lounge. In keeping with this we also installed a power bar which permits more members to plug in their lop-tops.
• We enjoyed a pizza day in the lounge in November which gave us all a break from the old luch box.
• The office, lounge and hallway had new flooring installed and everything looks fresh and clean. A very nice change and
improvement.
• Through member generosity MAPUS once again donated to the Campus Cupboard through Father Charlie at the
Chaplanicy Center.
• We held our "Annual Christnas Pot Luck" in the Faculty Lounge on December 14th following exams. Good Food!
Good Friends! Good Fun!
• Held a "Welcome Back Warm Up" with hot drinks and sweets early in January. Nice to see everyone back and a
chance to welcome new friends.
• The office needed a new printer, key board and mouse and we purchased them early in January. Things work much
better now.
• On Valentine's Day members enjoyed another pizza day. Mmmmmm Tasty!
• MAPUS decided to provide two $500.00 bursaries to our members. They will be put into place for September 2008
and the second will be given out in January 2009. A good start with hopefully more to come.
~ MAPUS decided this year that instead of having an end of the year "Pot Luck" we would hold the end of the year event
at Razzy's Roadhouse which we did and everyone who participated enjoyed the evening very much.
~ After nominations for our new executive for next year an election was held on April 4th with Judy Estey remaining
as President for the second term. Ray Keating joining us as Vice President, Margaret Doyle remaining as Senate
Representative and Afton Thacker assuming the position of Treasurer.
