Get Started with Groupwise

GroupWise on UPEI Campus

Due to the nature of supporting such a large volume of desktops over many years, it is quite possible that the specific folder on your workstation did not exist and GroupWise 7.x may have been installed in another location. Another scenario is the use of laptops on campus which used by staff and faculty for their work would have had the opportunity to receive this upgrade. A final scenario is also that staff and faculty with Apple Macintosh or Linux installed would not have received these automatic upgrades.

Therefore people with the following setups would not have received their automatic upgrade:

  1. GroupWise was installed in a non-standard location by IT Systems & Services or other personal
  2. You are using a laptop that doesn't log into Novell on the UPEI campus
  3. You are running Apple OSX or Linux

Installation Instructions

We recommend that if you are on a Windows PC and you log into Novell everyday to please try to update your GroupWise using Method One. Otherwise, please download the setup files using Method Two

Method One

  1. Log into Novell and wait a couple minutes for everything to load
  2. Click on the Start Menu
  3. Click on your Administrative Programs or Academic Programs menu option (differs depending on your UPEI account)
  4. Click on the Installations menu item then click on GroupWise Installations
  5. There will be a "GroupWise 8.0.1 Setup" item in this folder. Please click on it and the installation will commence.

You not have to do anything further if you use this method. This method will also install the UPEI Staff and Faculty Address Books into your GroupWise as well.

Method Two

We now offer the installation files on-line so you can utilize the new GroupWise client. This installation will install in the specific folder we check for all future upgrades AND also removed your previous version of GroupWise, wherever it was installed.

You will need to know the Hostname/IP to access your GroupWise server. Use the following:

Hostname / IP : my.groupwise.upei.ca
