History

In year one (2005-06) we established membership, procedures and policies, supported the development of some project and funding proposals and contributed partial funding to several research projects. ISince then we have continued to build trust and expand our membership. We have, through consensus decision-making, supported network members by providing partial research funds for expenses and field equipment, partner staff support, travel and conference support and student research assistants. We have organized annual learning events, participated in regional network learning exchanges, and sent members to various local, regional and international conferences and workshops in order to network, exchange information, develop profile and present research results and work in progress.

Additional SE-related learning events have been organized by several subnode members. Our ability to provide seed monies has assisted partners to leverage funds and in kind support from many other sources. Some of our members have already produced publications, both in the process of building a foundation for research, and through new research efforts. We are currently canvassing our members to evaluate our structure and processes, and document impacts on community organizations, academics and students.
