Maximum of 4 hours per lab per week

As per UPEI Student Rates of Pay

September – December, 2016 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements)

Applications are invited from junior and senior Biology students as well as  graduate students interested in demonstrating/instructing in the following Biology laboratories; Environmental Biology 101, Introductory Microbiology for the Health Sciences 106, Introductory Biology 131/132, Human Anatomy (Nursing and AHS) 121,  Animal Diversity 204, Cell biology 221 , General Ecology 222 , Plants and People 311, Intro Physiology 326, Animal Behavior 335 , Marine Biology 391 , Watershed Ecology 462 and other courses as the need arises.


• Can include setup/dismantling, demonstrating, assisting or instructing in the lab
• Conducting tutorials
• Marking exams and assignments
• The successful applicants will be required to participate on a weekly basis for the duration of the Fall semester (3-4 hours/lab/week)


• Applicants must possess good communication skills
• Must be WHIMIS trained
• Must have a knowledge of the laboratory material and an acceptable academic record (minimum 70%)

Please indicate the laboratory section(s) in which you are interested and the times you are available as well as provide a contact # or e-mail address. All students interested in working as lab demonstrators must be WHMIS trained. The WHMIS course is available online (see the Human Resources web site)

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and Procedures manual.
