Research Assistant

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is seeking an undergraduate Research Assistant for its Taser project, entitled “‘Less-lethal’ Force Options in Canada: Taser Adoption by the Police and its Consequences.” The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Charles Adeyanju.
• Contact and schedule research participants for interview;
• Conduct interviews with members of the law enforcement community and facilitate focus group discussions with members of the general public;
• Transcribe audio-recorded interviews;
• Library search;
• Literature review;
• Analyse and code research data; and
• Perform other duties as required.
Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:
• Field research/qualitative research methods courses;
• Strong familiarity with sociological and anthropological concepts;
• The ability to work independently and to perform tasks on short notice;
• Reliability and dependability; and
• Maturity and ability to exercise sound judgement.
• Being well organized will be considered a definite asset.
Priority to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and Procedures manual.
