Hours of Work: 

17 hours per week 

$53,185 to $58,471 per annum, prorated to time and term as per CUPE 1870

October 17, 2016 to April 30, 2017 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements)

The Faculty of Education invites applications from qualified applicants for the position of Research Coordinator. Located in the UPEI Centre for Educational Research, the successful candidate will report to the CER Director. She/he will interact with researchers, funders and community partners to help facilitate the continued growth of an effective research culture within the Faculty of Education.


Specific responsibilities include:
• Identifying & disseminating information regarding available research funding opportunities
• Developing & delivering research workshops as needed
• Facilitating the implementation of research projects in the field
• Connecting and communicating with research funders and community partners
• Communicating research outcomes through the use of traditional and emerging technologies
• Coordinating knowledge translation, mobilization and dissemination activities
• Providing day-to-day management and administrative support to CER, including but not limited to:
         Record keeping and financial management
         Correspondence
         Administration of Joint Education Research Group (JERG) initiatives
         Coordination and facilitation of research conferences and symposia
• Providing support to Faculty researchers by assisting with the development and implementation of processes to:
         Develop data collection protocols, including in-depth interview guides and focus group protocols
         Develop submissions to the UPEI Research Ethics Board
         Contact research sites and organize data collection
         Organize and manage data collected by the researcher(s)
         Maintain ongoing effective communication with research sites; and
         Coordinate the writing of research reports and scholarly articles reporting on the research


• Bachelor of Education with 5 years’ experience in educational setting and/or conducting educational research
• A thesis-based Master’s degree and/or PhD preferred
•  Extensive teaching and research experience in education and/or related fields
• Experience in facilitating research workshops for stakeholders
• Experience in working effectively with community organizations
• Ability to prioritize and organize work
• Ability to work effectively both as a member of a team and independently
• Ability to take the initiative and act in a proactive manner
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Excellent editing skills and expertise in academic writing conventions
• High comfort level, knowledge, and expertise in existing and emerging social media and high degree of computer literacy
