January 2015 to April 30, 2015 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements.)

Located in the Registrar’s & Student Accounts Office and reporting to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor (Accounting Office), the Accounts Receivable Clerk is the first point of contact for persons requiring registrar and financial assistance at the University. This position involves a wide variety of multi-tasking with deadlines and confidentiality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Providing customer service either at the counter, on the telephone or by email to students, faculty, staff, and general public
• Advising students on the University’s application procedure
• Assisting students throughout the course registration process, including course changes & discontinuations, changes to faculties, declaring majors & minors, transcript requests, degree audits, academic appeals, regulations and standing
• Analysing student accounts to ensure proper fees are charged accordingly
• Financial aid assistance – scholarship, awards, bursary processing; verifying and processing student loans and confirmation of enrollments
• Processing and receipting University revenue from all sources, primarily students such as tuition, fees, residence, meal plans and parking; including balancing daily cash and preparing bank deposit
• Opening and distributing mail
• Other duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS:

• The incumbent will have at minimum a two year college diploma, preferable with a focus in accounting and/or business
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with strong experience in customer service
• Ability to work well with others
• A working knowledge and experience in computers and common office software programs - i.e., WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
• Preference will be given to those with work experience in the University or similar environment
