The Coordinator of the Writing Centre will coordinate the writing skills support functions under the direction of the Director of Student Affairs. With a full range of leadership skills and professional knowledge and experience, the Coordinator works both independently and as part of the Student Affairs team. This position provides direct support and information to students and prospective students, develops and delivers programs to students, manages and supervises a roster of volunteers and student staff, collaborates with faculty and staff to create and maintain responsive and innovative programming, and promotes the importance of writing skills as integral to student success both on campus and in the larger community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develops and implements a set of goals and objectives for the program
• Develops, delivers and maintains integrated writing skills sessions for students
• Administrates and coordinates program activities and services for students
• Promotes collaboration and contribution across disciplines to ensure buy-in from all levels of the university community
• Creates and implements outreach strategies, both within the university and in the larger community
• Coordinates logistics, scheduling and related matters for the program;
• Develops and maintains resources (paper, online, human)
• Supervises support staff, student staff and volunteers
• Participates in staff meetings, professional development seminars and other related meetings
• Evaluates and analyzes the effectiveness of support services, develops recommendations, and takes appropriate action to ensure student, faculty, and administration needs are met
• Prepares reports as needed
• Prepares and presents budget proposals and recommendations

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree, either completed or in progress, in field appropriate to area of assignment
• Program development experience
• Supervisory experience
• Strong leadership, management, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Extensive and varied writing background
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Creative approach to problem-solving
• Skill in coordinating, organizing and prioritizing work activities of self and others
• Statistical retrieval of data (monitoring)
• Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles
• Skill in the use of technology and related software
