December 1, 2015 to December 2, 2016 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements.)

The Office of Skills Development and Learning is seeking a motivated, outgoing person for a one year term position as a Cooperative Education Job Development Coordinator.  The successful candidate will support the implementation of the recent UPEI Co-op Program Governance and Structure Review and work closely with the Cooperative Education Student Coordinator and Academic Directors in the Faculty of Science and the School of Business.  This position is key to the future success and growth of Cooperative Education at UPEI. 

Working closely with the Cooperative Education Student Coordinator, the successful candidate will:
• Proactively promote and solicit the participation of employers in the UPEI Co-operative Education Program.
• Work closely with employers (private, public, NGOs) to identify appropriate work term opportunities for students
• Advise students of work term expectations, schedules, and requirements for completion
• Conduct routine employer site visits to ensure that the work term is progressing as planned
• Ensure the employer information contained in the ORBIS database is current and kept up-to-date
• Liaise with the International Relations Office in the promotion of international Co-op work term opportunities
• Liaise with other government departments that administer career and employment incentive programs to ensure knowledge of these programs remains current
• Participate in regular monthly meetings with OSDL Director, Academic Directors, and the Co-op Student Coordinator to provide program updates and to discuss issues and opportunities

• A University degree; a Cooperative Education designation would be considered an asset
• Knowledge of the provincial economic sectors and labour market
• Excellent networking, oral, written, and presentation skills
• Experience with social media software and networking applications such as blogs, podcasts, LinkedIn and Twitter.
• Strong computer skills including MS Office tools, Google Applications
• Experience working in a team environment
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building ability
• Excellent problem solving and strategic thinking skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Experience working in a University environment would be considered an asset
