The Robertson Library is seeking applications for student positions for the 2015 - 2016 academic year. This competition will also be used to create a list for possible future openings. The list will remain in effect until September 30, 2016. Students hired may be renewed for subsequent terms, based on job performance, and employment eligibility.  Some evening and weekend work may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will work under the general direction of the Digital Initiatives and Systems Librarian, and with library staff to digitize a range of information artifacts using a variety of photographic equipment and software, prepare basic metadata about the items scanned, ensure that scans and data meet quality standards, work on other quality assurance tasks, load content into the Library’s digital asset management system, and assist with other tasks in the Digitization Lab as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with image editing software.
• Experience using scanners and/or photographic equipment.
• Experience with a web-based content management like Drupal would be an asset.
• Experience with Google Apps (eg. Google Sheets) would be an asset.
• Knowledge of the Islandora Digital Asset Management System would be an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to perform repetitive work while ensuring careful attention to detail; punctuality; strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to take direction; ability to work as part of a team; ability to work with and handle fragile material with care.
• Experience working in an academic library or related public/retail service experience would be an asset.
