The School of Nursing, University of Prince Edward Island has a sessional teaching opportunity in N632:  Episodic Health Care Across the Life Span, for the Summer 2017 semester.  This position is subject to budgetary approval.

This Masters of Nursing course deals with the diagnosis and management of episodic and common acute health conditions experienced by clients across the life span. Pathophysiology, assessment, and diagnostic strategies specific to the acute and common problems of clients of all ages will be stressed. Nursing strategies used to restore, maintain and enhance health are emphasized, as are the biological, psychological, social and cultural aspects of care.

Lecture: 3 hours per week

Dates: May 29, 2017 to August 28, 2017 (Negotiable based on instructor availability)

Applicants must have a Master’s Degree in Nursing and designation as a Nurse Practitioner.  Must hold an active RN license AND provincial endorsement as Nurse Practitioner (NP) for a minimum of three years.  Applicants will possess strong knowledge of acute presentations common to the primary health care setting, current treatment guidelines including complex monitoring and therapies, and must have or be willing to gain knowledge of PEI legislative and regulatory standards that shape NP practice.  Doctoral preparation is preferred.  Previous experience in teaching is an asset.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster, and to those with experience in teaching university level courses.
