The Robertson Library is seeking applications for a Research Assistant that will work with Librarians and the Robertson Library’s Digital Initiatives and Systems Unit to deploy, test, integrate, enhance, and document  a research data management application that supports researchers.


  • conduct research on available open source solutions for research data management planning tools;
  • deploy components of a research data management application;
  • develop, test, and document enhancements to the application framework;
  • explore integration options with other internal and external systems;
  • assist with the development of an instrument for measuring the effectiveness of the deployed application.


Applicants must have:

  • ability to create appropriate technical and training documentation/materials for applications and services;
  • excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
  • knowledge of the research process would be an asset.
  • demonstrated experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript, Ruby, PHP and databases;
  • have knowledge of Drupal and related PHP applications;
  • ability to work as part of a team or independently.
  • be enrolled at UPEI or an appropriate post-secondary institution, and ideally pursuing a post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Library and Information Studies, or equivalent;

Priority to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and Procedures manual.
