The Faculty of Education requires the services of a student to work in the Education Learning Commons (ELC) and on special projects with the Faculty’s Recruitment, Admissions & Alumni Officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
ELC (Three days per week): The student assistant will be responsible for providing circulation and references services and basic technological assistance to Faculty of Education students, faculty and staff using the ELC. The student will also perform cataloguing, inventory, and other miscellaneous duties as required. The student will report to the Coordinator of the ELC.
Recruitment, Admissions & Alumni (Two days a week): The student assistant will create and maintain a student database, update student records, assist with planning summer reunion activities in coordination with the Advancement Office, and help create promotional materials as needed (flyers, brochures, etc.). The student will report to the Recruitment, Admissions & Alumni Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate must be a returning student between the ages of 15 and 30. Priority will be given to students in the Faculty of Education.
The successful candidate should be comfortable with or able to quickly learn how to use a variety of software and other technologies, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Inspiration, Moodle, SMART Notebook, SMART Boards, photocopiers, printers and Macs. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated, with good time management skills, a positive attitude and must have strong oral and written communication skills.
Previous experience in a school or university library setting would be an asset, but is not required.
Priority to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and Procedures manual.
