37.5 hours per week

$49,231 to $54,164 per annum, prorated to term as per CUPE 1870

September 2014 to August 21, 2015 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements.) 

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital requires an Animal Health Technician to provide technical support for patients in Small Animal/Large Animal Anesthesia. 


Under supervision, job responsibilities will include:
• provide clinical and technical support to faculty in anesthesia
• prepare patient for induction of anesthesia
• induce and maintain anaesthesia
• recover patient
• equipment cleaning and maintenance
• ordering and stocking of supplies
• may involve some evening and weekend work
• may involve work in other areas of the hospital on occasion as required


• Must be a graduate of an Animal Health Technician program from a recognized facility
• RVT designation is preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in small and large animal surgical anesthesia would be preferred
• Excellent communication skills
• Must be self-motivated, have a positive attitude
• Must be able to work well as part of a team, but must be able to work independently as required
• Must be able to work flexible hours on occasion
