The Department of Applied Human Sciences has an opening for a Sessional Instructor during the forthcoming Winter 2017 semester to teach the following course, pending budgetary approval:

AHS 606 QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE METHODS (Online)

This course is divided into two broad sections. In the first section, the course will explore an introduction to qualitative and quantitative approaches. This part will highlight some of the critical issues involved in conducting applied health-related research. The second section will be an overview of statistical techniques that are appropriate to health-related research. It will provide students with some basic building blocks that they can use to carry out their own research and critically evaluate the work of others. Students will be introduced to SPSS in the Quantitative Methods section (this will be used extensively in the Statistics section).

HOURS OF CREDIT: 3

QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant will have a minimum of a Master's degree in a related area or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.  Where courses are offered on-line using multi-media technologies, applicants will normally be able to demonstrate successful on-line teaching experience.  Candidates who do not have previous online teaching experience must be open to and willing to do extra training for this delivery model, and without additional compensation.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster, and to those with experience in teaching university level courses.
